Offered here is a remarkable pair of Air Jordan XII Black/White sneakers, game worn by Michael Jordan during the 1997 NBA Playoffs, and attributed to one of his most iconic moments—the legendary “Finger Wag Game.”
These sneakers were originally sold by Steiner Auctions with attribution to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on May 13, 1997, when Jordan and the Chicago Bulls defeated the Atlanta Hawks 107–92 at the United Center. In that game, Jordan famously dunked over Dikembe Mutombo, responding with Mutombo’s signature finger wag—an unforgettable moment in NBA playoff history.
While broadcast and photographic imagery from the game is low resolution, there are visual similarities noted between the creases in the black leather panels and specific wear patterns seen on the sneakers, including a potential scratch on the front rubber outsole of the left shoe, visible in Getty image 1036095142.
The sneakers are both boldly signed in black permanent marker on the white leather uppers, offering excellent contrast and visual appeal. Manufacturer tagging includes:
“MADE IN CHINA”
“331147 LN3”
“136001 061 00”
Size 13, which aligns with Jordan’s known footwear size and sneaker codes during that era.
This pair has been authenticated as game worn from the 1996-97 NBA Season by MEARS Authentication, and both signatures are authenticated by PSA/DNA.
A truly significant and visually striking piece from one of the greatest players—and moments—in NBA postseason history.
