Dawson is member of Baseballs Hall of Fame and had the nicknames "The Hawk" and "Awesome Dawson. Dawson would join the Cubs in 1987 and this could quite possibly be his first jersey. Dawson would leave Montreal as a free agent in following the 1986 season looking to play for a team with natural grass to help with his knees. He would try to sign with the Cubs but Dallas green would not sign him. This was the year of collusion and finally Dawsons agent showed up and handed Green a blank signed contract. Green would put in a 500,000 amount with bonuses. He became the Cubs' starting right fielder, and hit a major league leading 49 home runs (equal with Oakland Athletics rookie Mark McGwire) and was named the league's MVP, finally winning after the two years as runner-up in Montreal. Nonetheless, Dawson wasn't able to turn around the Cubs' fortunes: although the team held first place for nearly half of May and remained in contention through July, the Cubs finished the 1987 season at 76-85, last in the National League East.[12] Dawson was the first player to ever win a league MVP trophy from a last place team. Jersey could be his first jersey as it was a blank made into Dawson as he signed with the team in spring training, Collar has 11 87 1 44 with Rawlings tag in tail. Sundberg number was 11. Both players signed with the Cubs in 1987.
