This amazingly unique and definitively photo matched Boston Celtics home jersey was worn by Larry Bird during the 1991-92 NBA season. Although the rare garment is tagged "89", it photo matches to two 91-92' regular season NBA games, the 91-92' Celtics team photo shoot and the final NBA showdown between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson which occurred on October 11th 1991 during the 1991-92 NBA Pre-Season before Magic made his HIV announcement a few weeks later on November 7th. Bird can also be seen wearing this exact jersey on the 1992 Skybox USA #14 basketball card shown in the listing. The garment displays tremendous game wear with loose threads, small stains, cotton buildup around the font/numbers, and yellowing that is more evident in person than can be displayed through photography. This jersey could have easily been worn in a dozen or more games in Bird's Final Season in the NBA where he put up over 20.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. This is the most historically significant Larry Bird jersey to hit public auction and is by far the most conclusively authenticated with a total of five clear photo matches.

A 12-time NBA All-Star and three-time NBA champion, Bird twice reached the 50-40-90 plateau to cement himself as one of the best shooters in the league’s history. A member of the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time team, Bird has his No. 33 retired by the Boston Celtics and is a two-time Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee. The front of the jersey displays a bold "clubhouse signature" which was very common for the era. Often times jerseys and other donated and gifted items were signed by an equipment manager or team employee. We have a number of examples of Larry Bird's clubhouse signature and this is an exact match. The jersey is accompanied by four photo match LOA's from Real Game Used. This is an iconic piece of NBA history that commemorates the final chapter in one of, if not the greatest one-on-one rivalry in the history of sports.
