This amazing ten-page promissory note for $11,250,000.00 to Mellon Bank and third-party agreement with Irving Trust (both New York City financial institutions) dated June 30, 1952. The document is signed on the ninth stapled page by entrepreneur, aviation, and filmmaker Howard R. Hughes in blue fountain pen. This document is in relation to an $11,250,000 note originally created for the takeover of TWA airlines being assigned to Irving Trust from Mellon Bank after a fall out between Hughes and Mellon, with an addition that will be used to further Hughes’ holdings in RKO Pictures, one of the biggest motion picture companies of the era. This is also signed by Noah Dietrich as witness and signed again by Dietrich as vice president of Hughes Tool Company. Hughes’ mystique lives on even 40 years after his death — as does the demand for his signature … especially on a document pertaining to a business dealing! The promissory note is accompanied by several pages of supporting documents and a JSA LOA.
