Alonzo Mourning sported this black Miami Heat home jersey during the 1996-97 NBA regular season. At one point during the campaign, he removed it for the last time and eventually autographed it on a front left “3” (of his “33” jersey number). The "Mourning" on the backside of the jersey has the correct arch shown on game worn Miami Heat jerseys as opposed to the over arching NOB on game issued jerseys. In our opinion this item appears to show characteristics of game use. The Champion “Size 50 “4” Length” is properly tag with the appropriate numbers and lettering. This jersey was originally obtained from the Miami Heat trainer according to the consignor. Mourning’s accomplishments as a player seem endless. In addition to being an gold medalist as a member of the United States men’s basketball team in the 2000 Olympic Games, he is also a seven-time NBA All-Star, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and an NBA champion (2006). He retired with 14,311 points and 7,137 rebounds. In 2009, Mourning became the first Heat player to have his number retired. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. This jersey is accompanied by a LOA from game used expert Dave Miedema.
