Notable signatures include Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Casey Stengel, Yogi Berra, Larry Doby, Al Kaline, Whitey Ford, Bob Lemon, Al Rosen, Mickey Vernon, Bob Avila, Fred Hutchinson, Ray Boone, Chico Carrasquel, Duane Pillette, Virgil Trucks, Bob Porterfield, Irv Noren, Bob Turley, Dean Stone, Sherm Lollar, Bob Swift, Harvey Kuenn, and Hank Bauer. The American League rallied in the bottom of the eight inning to defeat the National League 11–9 at Cleveland Stadium. Both teams combined for an All-Star Game record 20 runs, on 31 hits, which included six home runs.
